Signature villa, Palm Jumeirah

The owners asked for a villa that feels grand without feeling old: keep the arches, rotundas and marina views of a classic Palm Jumeirah signature villa, but replace heavy classical decoration with calm curves, natural stone and modern craft.

They entertain often, so the house needed several living rooms with different moods, two kitchens for family and staff, and bathrooms that guests remember.

Round rooms and arched openings make furniture and lighting hard: straight sofas and grid ceilings fight the architecture. The interiors also had to stay bright and warm against glare from the sea, and a large house had to read as one story rather than a set of showrooms.

We let the architecture lead. In the rotundas, curved sofas follow the walls and every ceiling is a dome or a ring with hidden cove light: gold leaf with a hammered bronze edge over the marina living room, a crystal cascade over the twin-sofa lounge, an arched bronze fireplace set into Calacatta marble in the family room. At the entrance a black stone fountain sits under an amber glass chandelier.

The palette stays tight across the house: walnut, often fluted or carved into waves, brushed brass, and one statement stone per room. The kitchens pair fluted walnut with a Calacatta island. The master suite raises a round velvet bed on a walnut podium under a mirrored ceiling. Each of the six bathrooms has its own stone, from green quartzite and Verde Guatemala to labradorite and backlit bookmatched onyx, with smoked glass basins and bathtubs, leather-framed mirrors and crystal light.

A concept that turns a classic Palm Jumeirah villa into a warm, modern home for entertaining, with furniture, lighting and stone specified for supply through DA Living. The project is now in the design stage.
